Brace Bands Chain Link
Brace bands are heavy-duty fittings that secure tension bars and brace rails to terminal posts in a chain link fence system. Small part, big job: they help keep the fence tight, straight, and durable.

Where Brace Bands Are Used
Brace bands are used at terminal postsโthe posts that take the pulling force of stretched fabric. They create a solid connection point for the tension system so the fence stays tight over time.
End Posts
At the start and end of each run, brace bands help attach the tension bar and brace rail to the end post so the fabric can be pulled tight and held in place.
Corner Posts
Corners take higher load because the fence changes direction. Brace bands anchor the tension system on each run meeting at the corner, keeping both sides tight.
Gate Posts
Gate openings concentrate stress from fence tension and gate movement. Brace bands help secure the chain link fabric to the gate post so the opening stays square and stable.
Pull Posts (Intermediate Terminals)
On long runs, a pull post may be used to break the run into sections. Brace bands help tension each section properly and reduce sag over distance.
Sizing Brace Bands
Brace bands are sized to match the outside diameter (OD) of the post they wrap around. In chain link, terminal posts are typically larger than line posts, so the brace band size must match the terminal post sizeโnot the fabric height. Sizes are usually listed by post diameter (for example, 2-3/8″ or 2-7/8″), but the right choice depends on the exact pipe used and the manufacturerโs spec.
Corrosion and Coatings
In Louisianaโs humidity and frequent rain, corrosion resistance matters. For most chain link systems, brace bands are galvanized to resist rust. For black chain link or decorative systems, powder-coated bands are common. Best practice is to match the bandโs finish to the rest of the framework and fasteners so the system wears evenly and keeps a consistent look.
